Pro Bowl Weekend

DeAngelo Hall Earn the MVP Award...
It was an entertaining Pro Bowl game to watch for those that were interested. With all of the scoring (96 combined points scored) there had to be someone selected to receive the award and why not the Redskins De Angelo Hall. Hall picked off Philip Rivers, recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. Hall also finished the game tied for the team lead with six tackles in a game that lacked a lot of defense. Hall earned his third Pro Bowl appearance on the strength of his six interceptions in 2010.

Zorn Fired in Baltimore….
The Ravens made the move last week firing quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn which comes as a surprise to me considering how well Joe Flacco played this past season and how successful the Ravens were (12 regular season wins). Flacco did not sound very pleased with the move and you have to wonder if it will have any kind of detrimental effect down the road. Flacco set career highs in yards passing (3,622), touchdowns (25), and passer rating 93.6 under Zorn’s tutelage; obviously there must have been control issues within the Harbaugh regime to feel it necessary to make this change. With what Zorn was able to accomplish with Flacco this past season, he’s not likely to remain unemployed too long.

Titans Part Ways With Fischer ….
It was a volatile situation earlier in the season between head coach Jeff Fischer and his quarterback Vince Young. From that point you had a feeling one of them would not be returning in 2011, but when word came down that the team would not retain Young it sounded like Fischer would continue on the Titan’s sideline where he has been for the past 16 seasons. Fischer’s departure came as a surprise, but in the scheme of things following the fiasco with Young, the disappointing 2010 season, and some of the internal struggles with the coaching changes being made, a split and fresh start seems most logical for both parties.

Kolb “Trade Talk” Heating Up?....
According to Adam Schefter there seems to be at least the possibility that the Eagles could trade Kolb for a high draft selection. It would make sense for the Eagles to at least field some offers; with Vick (age 30) their starter for the next several years, Kolb does carry some trade value weight, especially if the team can get a first or second round pick.

Tomlinson Could Be A Jet in 2011….
It sounds like the Jets have every intention of retaining LT’s services for 2011. Although he wasn’t much of a factor in the AFC Championship, he is coming off a very good 2010 campaign (1,282 total yards, 6 rushing touchdowns) and still has plenty in his tank. He biggest contribution to Jets is his leadership which will help 2nd year running back Shonn Greene (the future of the Jets ground attack).

Could Burress Land Somewhere in 2011?….
The former Giant was a head case in New York long before he shot himself, even when he is eligible to make his return the game he not likely to see many callers. Burress is going to have to prove himself to the league, his best chances of latching on somewhere in 2011 could come mid-season when a team could be in need due to injuries.
